Day 15 Haa to Paro

Day 15, Saturday Oct. 10 - Haa to Paro

It is a 3-hour drive from Haa to Paro.  On the way, we will be driven to Chelala and then hike about one hour to Kila Goempa. The goempa is nestled in a craggy patch on a mountain side below the Chelela Pass and perched precariously on a rock face. From Chelela Pass, the lhakhang is about an hour’s walk amidst magnificent wooded area.

Kila Goempa is a nunnery established in the 9th century by Dupthob Chhoeji Norbu and Dupthob Temba as a mediation center.  It is the oldest nunnery in Bhutan.

There are two trails to the Nunnery - one is more steep than the other.  We should take the less steep one.
